G-Star has a well-established strategy and plan in place to manage the durability of its clothing. G-Star’s quality monitoring manuals and testing procedures have been developed to address product durability. G-Star allocates responsibility for quality assurance (durability) to dedicated members of staff who are able to influence senior management. G-Star takes a formalised approach to handling and actioning product faults. There remains opportunity for G-Star to advise consumers to minimise their environmental impact during laundry and/or minimise impact of laundry on product lifespan. These foundational activities have resulted in a level 1 score of 80%.
G-Star’s senior management is routinely involved in managing and are formally accountable for delivering commitments to improving durability of G-Star products. G-Star has robust training materials and procedures in place to support the training of product development teams to create ‘more’ durable products. There is opportunity for G-Star to further demonstrate how it educates consumers on product care and enhancing the durability of its products resulting in a level 2 score of 28%.
G-Star has individual team member targets to enhance the durability of G-Star product. In addition, G-Star has an established programme for increasing the durability of its products with clear stated aims and time frames for delivery. However, there remains opportunity for G-Star to encourage customers to extend the life span of its products. This has resulted in a score at level 3 of 53%.
